Transfer Policy & Procedure

The Monterey Bay Half Marathon will allow person-to-person transfers within the same race category for a $20 transfer fee through October 15, 2020.

The time window for transfer is subject to change and those that transfer into the race may not automatically receive the participant shirt size requested.

Below are instructions to initiate the transfer process. You must have already registered for the 2020 Monterey Bay Half Marathon and have a free Active.com account to take advantage of this option. Transfers are not available for registered 2018 entrants who deferred to the 2020 race; they can, however, defer one final time to 2021 by emailing the registrar.

Transfer Registration:

1. The original entrant logs into Active.com and clicks their name in the upper right side and chooses “My Events”
2. Click Transfer registration to another athlete
3. Enter the recipient email address in Email address field
4. Enter recipient email address in Confirm email address
5. Click Submit
6. Confirmation email is sent verifying transfer process initiated to both the transferring participant and the new participant

Accept Registration:

1. The new registrant opens email notification of transfer
   Note: the email subject is “Claim your registration for {event name} from {original participant}
2. Click “Claim registration” within the message which will take you to Active.com
3. Log into Active.com
4. Complete registration form
5. Click Continue
6. Click Check out

NOTES:

• Registrations for someone below age 18 can only be viewed and transferred by the guardian who registered them.
• Transfer may only be completed into the same category – if the original registration was for a 5K, the new registration must also be for the 5K.
• The current Half Marathon entry fee is applied at checkout when the recipient accepts the transfer. This entry fee may be higher than that of the original participant.
• The original registration fee is not refunded until the new participant accepts and completes the transfer process.
• Once the recipient has accepted and completed the transfer, the original registrant will be cancelled and refunded the amount of their original registration fee minus the $20 transfer fee. For example, if the transferor’s entry fee was $120, they will receive a refund for $100. Refunds are processed within 5-7 business days. Active.com processing fees are not refunded.
